PM WANI stands for Pradhan Mantri Wi-Fi Access Network Interface and this scheme was launched by our Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi in December 2020. 

The PM WANI WI-Fi scheme was introduced and its primary focus was to create Employment and Business Opportunities and to increase internet access at very low cost across the country with the help of Wi-Fi Hotspots and also to strengthen our digital India mission.

FRAMEWORK OF PM WANI SCHEME

The WANI framework contains the following components:

1 - Public Data Office (PDO): It will establish, maintain and operate only WANI compliant Wi-Fi Access Points and deliver broadband services to subscribers.

2 - Public Data Office Aggregator (PDOA): It will be an aggregator of PDOs and perform the functions relating to Authorization and Accounting.

3 - App Provider: It will develop an App to register users and discover WANI compliant Wi-Fi hotspots in the nearby area and display the same within the App for accessing the internet service.

4 - Central Registry: It will maintain the details of App Providers, PDOAs, and PDOs. To begin with, the Central Registry will be maintained by C-DoT.

1. How do I get PM-WANI Wi-Fi?

A) The potential user who wants to access Broadband through Public Wi-Fi will need to download the relevant App, get authenticated, and thereafter access Broadband at any Public Wi-Fi Hotspot.

2. How can I get PM-WANI franchise?

A) Take Franchise of this scheme by directly talking to the PDOA (public data office aggregator) for the franchise And the agreement that will be there will be between PDOA and the franchise owner.

3. How do I register PDO PM-WANI?

A) Registration Form has to be filled out to become PDO and you have to Enter Your Mobile number and agree to establish, maintain, and operate only WANI compliant Wi-Fi Access Point.
